Ludford Parts Ltd is a family business formed in Ludlow in 1984. It is run by three generations of the founding family and was originally set up to market obsolete Ford parts to all comers. After some time, due to demand from local tradespeople, the partners were persuaded to offer motor parts for all makes of vehicle to local garages.
In 1990, we became a limited company.
In 2002, Ludford Parts Ltd purchased Apex Exhausts in Hereford and renamed it Apex Motor Parts Ltd. Since then, Newtown Motor Parts Ltd followed in 2007, Rheidol Motor Parts Ltd in Aberystwyth in 2015, Kidderminster Motor Factors in 2020, Clogau Motor Factors in Dolgellau in 2022, Apex Motor Parts in Leominster in 2025, and Midland Motor Factors in Brierley Hill in 2026.
So, eight branches and counting.
Up until 2020, the Group was entirely owned and run by the founding family. At that point, a Director was appointed from outside the family to run Kidderminster Motor Factors Ltd.
As you can see, from 1984 to date we have steadily expanded to where we are today.
From selling exclusively obsolete Ford parts, we have diversified widely and now stock a core range of top-quality O/E parts, chemicals and lubricants to suit all vehicles available in the market today.
Leading brands stocked include Bosch, Comma, Dayco, FAG, Ferodo, INA, Klarius, KYB, LuK, Lucas, Mahle, Monroe, NGK, Valeo and many others.
In addition, we also offer a second tier of parts from reputable sources, priced to compete in today’s very tough market conditions.
We stock extensive ranges of brake pads and discs, steering and suspension components, springs and shocks, starters and alternators, engine management parts, clutches, exhausts, wiper blades, lubricants and chemicals, AdBlue and industrial gases, diagnostics and tools, vehicle accessories, batteries and much more.
In the year 2000, we became members of the national trade association known as the IFA. This has given us enormous buying power, enabling us to compete on equal terms with other major motor factoring groups in the UK.
We have a fleet of over 70 vans, enabling us to distribute parts efficiently throughout much of the West Midlands and Mid Wales.

1984 – The Beginning
Ludford Parts was founded in Ludlow as a family business, originally specialising in obsolete Ford parts. As demand grew from local tradespeople and garages, the business expanded to supply motor parts for all makes of vehicle, establishing strong relationships within the local motor trade.
1990 – A New Chapter
The business became incorporated as Ludford Parts Ltd, laying firm foundations for structured growth, long-term stability and continued expansion under the leadership of the founding family.
2000 – Strength in Partnership
Ludford Parts became a member of the national trade association, the IFA. Membership significantly strengthened buying power, enabling the Group to compete on equal terms with other major motor factoring businesses across the UK.
2002 – Expanding Horizons
The acquisition of Apex Exhausts in Hereford, later renamed Apex Motor Parts Ltd, marked the Group’s first major expansion beyond Ludlow and the beginning of a multi-branch network.
2007 – Growing into Mid Wales
Newtown Motor Parts Ltd was established, extending distribution capabilities and strengthening regional presence throughout Mid Wales.
2015 – Serving the Coast
Rheidol Motor Parts Ltd opened in Aberystwyth, continuing the Group’s tradition of dependable local supply backed by family values and trusted service.
2020 – Strengthening Leadership
Kidderminster Motor Factors opened. For the first time, a Director from outside the founding family was appointed to lead the branch, marking an important step in the Group’s evolving structure and continued growth.
2022 – Continued Commitment
Clogau Motor Factors in Dolgellau joined the group further reinforcing the Group’s commitment to supporting garages, trade customers and associated businesses across the region.
2023 – Investing in Growth
The Ludlow branch relocated to significantly larger premises, increasing stock holding capacity and improving facilities to support future development and customer service excellence.
2025 – Expanding Coverage
Apex Motor Parts expanded further with the opening of its Leominster branch, strengthening service coverage across Herefordshire and surrounding areas.
2026 – Strengthening the Midlands
Midland Motor Factors opened in Brierley Hill, enhancing distribution capability throughout the West Midlands and supporting continued regional expansion.
Today – A Diversified Motor Factors Group
Now operating eight branches and a fleet of over 70 delivery vans, The Ludford Parts Group supplies an extensive range of O/E quality parts, lubricants and chemicals for all vehicle types. Stocking leading brands alongside competitively priced second-tier products, the Group continues to grow while remaining firmly rooted in the family values and customer relationships established in 1984.
